The Most Savvy Sauvignon Blanc Wine Pairings
What is Sauvignon Blanc?
Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most popular white wine grapes. Although the grape is most likely most popular known to grow in New Zealand in Marlborough, in fact, the grapes’ homeland is in France. It’s believed the grape hails from the Loire Valley in France, where it is grown in Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. It is also grown in Bordeaux alongside Semillon, used for dry white wines. Sauvignon Blanc grows well worldwide, with notable regions being Napa Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and Santa Ynez in California, Casablanca Valley in Chile, Stellenbosch in South Africa, and Alto-Adige in Italy. Unless aged in oak, Sauvignon Blanc is fresh, clean, crisp, and snappy. Flavors and aromas include lime, grapefruit, green apple, and sometimes passionfruit, fresh herbs, and slight bell pepper notes.
